One Percent of Kansas Corn in the Ground

For the week ending Sunday, there were 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 4 percent very short, 17 short, 70 adequate, and 9 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 5 percent very short, 13 short, 75 adequate, and 7 surplus.

Winter wheat condition rated 3 percent very poor, 10 poor, 38 fair, 41 good, and 8 excellent. Winter wheat jointed was 20 percent, ahead of 8 last year.

Corn planted was 1 percent, near 2 last year and 4 for the five-year average.
