Livestock theft has been reported in Cloud County after four heads of cattle were discovered missing from a pasture near Concordia. The Kansas Livestock Association has confirmed that a member reported the disappearance of two bred cows and two calves, raising concern among local agriculture and livestock communities.
The missing cattle are described as black crossbred animals. Each animal carries a distinctive brand, which authorities believe will help with identification. The brand is a rafter backward R and is located either on the left hip or on both hips of the cattle. The cows are also marked with yellow ear tags that display the same brand, making them easier to recognize.
The calves involved in the incident have white ear tags and are estimated to weigh between 550 pounds and 750 pounds. These clear physical descriptions are being shared to assist anyone who may have seen the animals or noticed unusual livestock activity in the area.
In response to the theft, the Kansas Livestock Association is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The reward program applies only when the livestock owner is a member of the association, which is the case in this incident.
Local authorities are actively investigating the report and encourage anyone with information to come forward. Even small details may help law enforcement track the missing cattle and prevent further livestock theft in the region.
Livestock theft remains a serious issue for rural communities, affecting both economic stability and animal welfare. Law enforcement officials continue to stress the importance of reporting suspicious activity and maintaining strong communication among neighbors.
Anyone with information related to the missing cattle is urged to contact the Cloud County Sheriff’s Office at (785) 243-3636. Public cooperation is considered essential to resolving the case and ensuring accountability.
