Galen and Lori Fink, a dedicated couple from Randolph, have been chosen as the 2024 Stockman of the Year, an accolade given yearly by the Livestock & Meat Industry Council.
Their recognition comes during the Stockmen’s Dinner on February 29 at the Stanley Stout Center in Manhattan, highlighting their significant contributions to the livestock sector.
Raised on farms in eastern Kansas, the Finks acquired early on the value of making informed decisions in cattle management, business, and leadership.
These principles guided them to establish Fink Beef Genetics, a leading seedstock business that leverages advanced technologies like embryo transfer and artificial insemination. Their efforts have significantly enhanced cattle quality for commercial producers.
The Finks are pioneers in their field, notably for initiating a program in the U.S. that involves placing embryos in surrogate cows. Their operation now implants over 800 embryos annually, conducts two sales each year, and offers more than 600 bulls to clients via private treaty.
Their collaboration with reputable organizations such as U.S. Premium Beef, Angus and Charolais GeneNet, and Meyer Natural Angus, alongside developing multiple feedlot partnerships, has enabled their customers to earn premiums for their cattle.
Galen and Lori's leadership extends beyond their business, having played significant roles in various industry groups and earning numerous awards for their work.
To learn more about the Finks' achievements or to attend the Stockmen’s Dinner, interested parties should contact (785) 532-1267 by February 22. The event ticket is priced at $50 per person.
