The Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF) has announced the recipients of its 2025 legacy scholarships, honored past members of the livestock industry and supported students pursuing agricultural studies across Kansas.
Two students each received the $1,500 Doug Laue Memorial Scholarship. The award recognizes Laue’s service as chairman of the KLA Cattle Feeders Council in the early 1990s and his commitment to the industry.The $1,000 Scott Johnson and Family Scholarship was awarded to a Kansas State University student majoring in one of several agriculture-related fields.
The scholarship is given in appreciation for the support shown to the Johnson family during Scott Johnson’s health challenges. Johnson served as the Kansas Livestock Association’s director of information technology until his passing in 2021.
The $500 Fred H. Woodbury Memorial Scholarship was presented to a student entering Fort Hays State University. This award honors Woodbury’s legacy as a longtime KLA member from Quenemo.
The $1,000 Glenn and Clyde Lindstrom Scholarship was given to a Hutchinson Community College sophomore. The Lindstrom brothers were dedicated farmers and cattlemen from the Falun area, and their endowment supports agriculture students at Kansas junior and senior colleges.
The $1,000 Alfred Barby Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a student entering Kansas State University. Barby, from Meade, was a devoted KLA member remembered for his commitment to the livestock sector.
These scholarships recognize leadership, academic dedication, and a passion for agriculture. KLA members who wish to create a similar legacy to benefit future agricultural students are encouraged to contact the Kansas Livestock Foundation.
Through these awards, KLF continues its mission of supporting education, honoring industry contributions, and preparing the next generation to lead in Kansas agriculture.
