Steve Frost leads KDA conservation division as new director

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) and the State Conservation Commission welcome Steve Frost as the new Executive Director of the KDA Division of Conservation (DOC).  Frost, a seasoned professional in the field, carries a rich history of over 40 years in various public service roles, primarily focused on water resources and conservation.

His experience spans 17 years at KDA–DOC, concentrating on water conservation initiatives and managing conservation districts and watershed districts.

Frost's impressive career includes a significant tenure as the executive director of the Southwest Kansas Groundwater Management District and various roles in the Bureau of Water at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

His dedication to Kansas' conservation efforts is well-recognized, with Rod Voorhees, chair of the State Conservation Commission, praising his commitment and wealth of experience.

Under Frost’s guidance, the KDA Division of Conservation will continue its collaborative work with the SCC, 105 local conservation districts, 88 watershed districts, and other state and federal entities.

The division focuses on improving water quality, reducing soil erosion, conserving water, reducing flood potential, and enhancing local water supply. Frost, as Executive Director, will administer the Conservation Districts Law and other legislation supporting conservation efforts.
