The University of Kansas Memorial Union will host an unveiling ceremony for the newest Asher Family Plaza Statue at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 23 on Asher Family Plaza.
The event will kick off Family Weekend at The University of Kanas. The Ascher Dedication Ceremony commemorates James Ascher Sr., who is a long-time supporter of the KU Memorial Union.
Family will give remarks celebrating the legacy and continuing generosity of the Ascher family.
Festivities will include a special appearance by Big Jay, free refreshments, and more.
The Aschers have left lasting legacy, recently funding conservation materials and student curators for the preservation of objects and materials of the KU History Project, now known as the "Ascher Family KU Jayhawk and Artifact Collection".
The KU Memorial Union, a not-for-profit affiliate of the University of Kansas, operates the KU Bookstore, KU Dining, KU Event Services, and KU Union Programs. Proceeds resulting from Union services are reinvested into KU student initiatives.
