Florida Farm Bill 2025 Supports Agriculture Growth

By Jamie Martin

Florida’s agriculture sector is set to receive a boost with the 2025 Florida Farm Bill, announced by Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Senator Keith Truenow, and Representative Kaylee Tuck.

This bill introduces policies to support farmers, ranchers, and growers, prohibit discriminatory ESG lending, enhance consumer protection, and strengthen emergency preparedness measures.

Key Highlights of the Bill

  • Protecting Agricultural Lands – Allows local governments to decide on solar farms and incentivizes dual land use for farming and solar energy.
  • Defending Farmers’ Rights – Prohibits financial discrimination against farmers based on environmental policies or emission targets.
  • Tax Relief for Farmers – Proposes a total exemption on agricultural tangible personal property taxes and removes taxes on materials used for best management practices.
  • Strengthening Emergency Preparedness – Ensures a reliable fuel supply and provides funding for power switches at fuel stations in evacuation areas.
  • Consumer Protection Measures – Bans misleading labels on plant-based products marketed as milk or meat, strengthens charity regulations, and prohibits the sale of psychedelic mushrooms.
  • Educating Future Farmers – Protects FFA and 4-H programs in schools by allowing agricultural facilities on school property.

Commissioner Simpson emphasized the bill’s significance, stating, “This legislation is a strong step forward to defend Florida’s agricultural industry and the hardworking farmers, ranchers, and growers who fuel our economy.”

With its wide-ranging provisions, the 2025 Florida Farm Bill aims to strengthen Florida’s agriculture industry while ensuring farmers’ rights, consumer protections, and economic sustainability for the future.
