Christy Davis, the USDA Rural Development State Director for Kansas, recently unveiled funding for three significant projects aimed at increasing the availability and use of domestic biofuels in the state. This initiative, which includes a total investment of $902,500, is part of a broader effort to enhance clean energy accessibility and create new market opportunities for Kansas farmers.
The projects are strategically located in Manhattan, Lenexa, and Sedgwick. In Manhattan, Dara's LLC will receive $454,500 to install new ethanol dispensers and storage tanks, anticipated to boost ethanol sales by over 600,000 gallons annually.
In Lenexa, Berger Property Collection LLC will benefit from a $302,500 grant to add multiple biofuel dispensers, potentially increasing biofuel sales by nearly 2 million gallons per year.
Lastly, Basgall Investments LLC in Sedgwick will use a $145,500 grant to enhance ethanol dispenser infrastructure, expected to raise ethanol sales by approximately 374,400 gallons annually.
These enhancements are funded through the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP), which supports fueling station and distribution facility owners in expanding access to biofuels. The USDA continues to accept applications for this program, emphasizing its commitment to advancing rural development and clean energy solutions across the country.
This USDA initiative not only supports Kansas's agricultural sector but also contributes to the nation's energy independence and sustainability goals. By improving the biofuel infrastructure, the USDA helps to lower energy costs, create jobs, and provide more sustainable fuel options for the future.
