Kansas Ag Experts Lead Winter Conferences

Kansas Ag Experts Lead Winter Conferences

By Scout Nelson

Kansas State University is preparing to host a series of Agricultural Profitability Conferences across Kansas, beginning in December and continuing into early February. Organized by K-State’s Department of Agricultural Economics, these events aim to support agricultural professionals by offering clear, research-based information on how to maintain profitability during uncertain and challenging times.

The conferences will feature discussions on economic trends, farm policy updates, land values, and management strategies that help agricultural operations remain financially stable. According to organizers, the sessions are designed to help participants better understand how to respond to economic downturns, manage rising input costs, and recognize new business opportunities within the agriculture sector.

Speakers will include K-State economists, Farm Service Agency personnel, and other experts who will share practical guidance based on current data and real-world experience.

The program will also include discussions on stress and mental health, highlighting the importance of emotional well-being in today’s agricultural landscape. Additional sessions will cover succession planning and retirement preparation, topics that are becoming increasingly important for long-term agricultural transitions.

Conference dates and locations include:

• December 9 – Manhattan
• December 11 – Burlington
• December 17 – Hiawatha
• January 13 – Mankato
• January 14 – Colby
• January 15 – Hays
• February 3 – Garden City
• February 4 – Kingman
• February 5 – Erie

Each location will offer time for open conversation, allowing participants to ask questions and network with presenters and peers. Registration fees vary by location, and full details are available online. A online version of the conference will be released after the in-person events, with more information to be announced.

These conferences provide an important opportunity for agricultural professionals to learn, plan, and prepare for the year ahead with reliable information and expert support.
