Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) has officially opened entries for its 2025 Agricultural Reporting Awards. These awards aim to recognize outstanding journalism that effectively tells the story of agriculture in Kansas through both print and broadcast media.
“We want to recognize the outstanding ag reporting produced every year in Kansas,” said KFB’s Greg Doering. “We know journalists do great work in telling the stories of Kansas farmers and ranchers, and we want to highlight the pieces that really showcase what goes into growing our food.”
Eligible journalists must have their work published or aired between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025, with appropriate byline or credit. Entrants must cover agriculture within the state of Kansas in a professional capacity.
There are four award categories:
- Printed News Story – for stories focused on timely reporting and facts
- Printed Feature Story – highlighting creativity and human interest
- Audio/Video News Story – produced for TV or radio, 5 minutes or less
- Audio/Video Feature Story – produced for TV or radio, up to 30 minutes
Journalists may submit one entry per category. Submissions can be uploaded via the online portal. The deadline for all entries is 5 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025.
Entries will be judged by a panel of Kansas Farm Bureau members and KFB staff. Winners will be announced at KFB’s 2025 annual meeting, scheduled for December 6–8 in Manhattan, Kansas.
Prizes include $200 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place in each category. These awards aim to honor and inspire continued excellence in agricultural journalism across Kansas.
