New Leaders Chosen for Kansas Grain Boards

The Kansas Department of Agriculture has officially announced the results of the 2025 elections for the state’s five grower-led grain commodity commissions: corn, grain sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers, and wheat. These elections were conducted in Districts VII, VIII, and IX, covering the eastern region of Kansas.

Kansas Corn Commission

District VII: Griff Howard, Hiawatha

District VIII: JD Hanna, Silver Lake

District IX: Chad Epler, Columbus

Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission

District VII: No candidate ran. The position will be appointed.

District VIII: Kevin Kniebel, White City

District IX: Nicole Small, Neodesha

Kansas Soybean Commission

District VII: Gary Robbins, Emmett

District VIII: Robert Haselwood, Berryton

District IX: Michael Froebe, Mound Valley

Kansas Sunflower Commission

No candidates ran in Districts VII, VIII, or IX. These positions will be filled through appointments by the Kansas Sunflower Commission.

Kansas Wheat Commission

Districts VII, VIII, IX: Nathan Larson, Riley

These commissions are guided by producers who are committed to advancing the industry. Each commissioner will serve a three-year term beginning April 1, 2025. Their role includes overseeing how check-off dollars are invested in research, education, promotion, and market development to support long-term success and innovation in each grain sector.
