The Arkansas Rice Research and Promotion Board is now accepting grant proposals for rice research and promotional activities, aiming to support the state’s rice industry. Proposals must be submitted by January 9, 2025.

Research Proposals Guidelines

Rice research proposals should not exceed four pages and must:

Clearly state the goals and objectives of the proposed research.

Specify the expected benefits to the Arkansas rice industry.

Include a detailed budget covering salaries, travel, direct costs, and research expenses (budget details are excluded from the four-page limit).

Explain accountability measures for the use of requested funds.

Provide audited financial statements for requests over $15,000.

The Arkansas Rice Research and Promotion Board has set a funding goal of $2.7 million for research projects.

Promotional Activity Proposals Guidelines

Proposals for promotional activities must:

  • State the goals and objectives of the promotional efforts.
  • Highlight expected benefits to the rice industry.
  • Focus on promoting generic rice, avoiding specific business endorsements.
  • Include detailed budget and accountability measures.
  • Provide audited financial statements for funding requests exceeding $15,000.

Administrative costs are not eligible for funding, and activities funded by other programs cannot be duplicated.

Proposals can be submitted electronically to cynthia.edwards@agriculture.arkansas.gov or by mail at 1 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205. The deadline for submissions is 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.

The amount available for promotional activities will be determined during the board’s meeting on February 25, 2025. This funding initiative aims to strengthen Arkansas’s rice industry through impactful research and promotional efforts.
