Kansas State University's College of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the 2025 Taiwan Agricultural Youth Exchange Program. This program, scheduled for August 8–16, 2025, presents a fantastic opportunity for up to six undergraduate students to gain firsthand experience in Taiwanese agriculture and culture.
Each selected student will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the College of Agriculture to help cover some of the travel expenses. Dr. Dan Moser, Associate Dean of Academic Programs at K-State, emphasized the value of the program: “This is a tremendous opportunity for K-State students to experience agriculture on a global level. We are thrilled to support the exchange program and award scholarships to the students participating in the program.”
The exchange is not only a chance to visit Taiwan but also a learning journey through the diverse agricultural landscape of the region. Participants will tour various agricultural facilities and businesses, gaining insights into the techniques and strategies employed by Taiwanese farmers.
Corley Becker, a past participant, described the experience as "once in a lifetime," appreciating the opportunity to understand Taiwan's commitment to sustainable farming practices.
This program stems from a bilateral exchange established in 2023 between Kansas State University and National Chung Hsing University, supported by the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Denver. It reflects the ongoing commitment to fostering international relationships that enrich students’ academic and personal growth.
In addition to the exchange program, students from NCHU will visit Kansas during the spring semester, further enhancing this cultural and educational bridge. Suzanne Ryan-Numrich, KDA international trade director, highlighted the broader benefits of such exchanges: “International travel broadens your horizons and will build your confidence to try new things — ultimately, you’ll become more open-minded.”
Eligibility for this program requires current enrollment as an undergraduate at K-State, a strong agricultural background, a valid U.S. passport, and the ability to contribute approximately $1,500 towards airfare and meals. This initiative not only promotes educational advancement but also prepares students for future roles in the global agricultural sector.
