KFB Awards Scholarships to Ag Students

By Scout Nelson

Kansas Farm Bureau’s (KFB) Foundation for Agriculture has announced the awarding of $26,500 in scholarships to 45 students for the 2025–2026 academic year. The foundation continues to support the education of students pursuing careers that benefit agriculture and rural Kansas communities.

“We’re investing in students today to ensure they become tomorrow’s leaders,” says KFB President and Foundation Chair Joe Newland.

Alongside the foundation’s awards, local county Farm Bureaus throughout Kansas also contributed more than $160,000 in scholarships to nearly 200 additional recipients, making a significant impact statewide.

"The KFB Foundation for Agriculture is absolutely thrilled to support our member students through these scholarship awards,” says Shannon Martin, the foundation’s assistant director. “It's an honor to invest in their potential and help them achieve their academic and personal goals."

Recipients included students attending Kansas colleges and universities with a strong focus on agricultural education. Scholarships ranged from $500 to $1,000, and many were granted through permanent, privately endowed funds dedicated to supporting the next generation of agriculture professionals.

Specific scholarship programs included the Frank and Helen Bernasek Memorial Scholarship, the Kansas State University Agricultural Communications and Journalism Scholarship, the Godfrey and Emma Bahr-Miller Memorial Scholarship, and several others. Additionally, scholarships were awarded to students at Kansas technical colleges and members of Kansas Farm Bureau Collegiate Farm Bureau chapters.

The foundation also awarded four $1,000 scholarships to students in Kansas State University’s College of Agriculture and two $1,000 scholarships to students at Fort Hays State University.

These scholarships play a vital role in supporting students passionate about agriculture and committed to advancing the future of rural communities in Kansas.
