The Kansas Junior Livestock Show (KJLS) celebrated youth excellence by awarding $20,000 in scholarships to 13 student exhibitors on October 4, just before the inaugural Supreme Female Drive.
The annual scholarship program highlights academic achievement, community service, and active participation in 4-H and FFA.
Four exhibitors received $2,000 scholarships; six were awarded $1,500 scholarships, and three received $1,000 scholarships. Each recipient was selected based on dedication to agriculture, leadership skills, and contributions to their local communities.
Since its inception in 1993, the KJLS scholarship program has awarded $597,550 to 411 exhibitors, helping support the next generation of agricultural leaders as they pursue higher education and agricultural careers.
“This scholarship program continues to showcase our commitment to the education and leadership development of young people in agriculture,” said event organizers. The program not only rewards academic excellence but also encourages students to apply their agricultural experience toward building stronger rural communities.
The scholarship fund is supported by generous sponsors, including Cargill, the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas Bill House Leadership Award, the Coonrod Family Foundation, Farm Credit Associations of Kansas, the Lattner Family Foundation, Merck Animal Health, and the Terry Fritz Memorial.
These sponsors have played a vital role in ensuring that Kansas students with a passion for agriculture have access to opportunities that promote education and leadership in the livestock industry.
The KJLS remains one of the largest youth livestock shows in the Midwest, providing valuable learning experiences and promoting future agricultural success for youth across Kansas and beyond.
