KLA To Host Livestock Meeting for Southwest Kansas Counties

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) will host a regional meeting for Gray, Finney, Ford, and Hodgeman counties on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Cimarron 4-H Building, located at 17002 W. Highway 50. Registration and social time begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and the official meeting at 6:30 p.m.

This event provides livestock producers, landowners, and agribusiness professionals with an opportunity to stay informed on key issues shaping the livestock industry.

A representative from the Kansas Livestock Association will share updates on legislative and regulatory matters impacting livestock operations statewide, offering attendees insights into current policy developments and future priorities.

Additionally, a representative from Groundwater Management District #3 will discuss ongoing conservation efforts and initiatives designed to promote sustainable water management in western Kansas.

This session will highlight resource preservation strategies and the importance of balancing agricultural production with long-term environmental stewardship.

“All livestock producers, landowners, agribusiness representatives, and their spouses are encouraged to attend,” organizers said. The event aims to strengthen collaboration among agricultural professionals while addressing regional concerns that influence ranching and farming practices.

Attendees are asked to RSVP to Jenna Hlavaty by text at (620) 639-1883 or by email at hlavatyj44@gmail.com.

The meeting will also support the Cartridges for Cash initiative, which benefits the Kansas Livestock Foundation Scholarship Fund. Participants are encouraged to bring empty Ralgro and Revalor cartridges, with Merck Animal Health donating 25 cents per cartridge.

This effort provided $9,500 in scholarships for the 2025–2026 academic year, helping students pursue agricultural education.

The KLA meeting offers an important platform for Kansas producers to stay informed, share ideas, and work together toward a stronger, more sustainable livestock industry across the region.
