The MF 8S Dyna E-Power from Massey Ferguson has made history as the first tractor to complete the Morocco Desert Challenge, finishing 75th overall and 4th among trucks. This rare feat highlights the machine’s power and adaptability in extreme environments.
Modified with race-ready features, the MF 8S had off-road tyres, a protective roll cage, two racing seats, and a second fuel tank. Other changes included a spare wheel crane, high-speed suspension, and reinforced controls. Its top speed was upgraded to 75kph.
Gilles Kuffer, who led the project, said it was a true engineering challenge that showed the talent of agriculture mechanics and teamwork. The tractor’s performance was supported by its Protect-U design, which keeps heat away from the cab using a 24 cm air gap and special cooling systems.
Inside, the cab was equipped with air conditioning vents and large glass panels for comfort and visibility. The MF 8S also featured a tyre inflation system for better control on sand and dunes.
Powered by a 7.4-litre AGCO engine reaching 400 hp, the tractor used a Dyna E-Power dual-clutch transmission, allowing smooth and strong gear changes. The team behind the project praised its flawless transmission and endurance over more than 2000 km of harsh terrain.
This milestone adds to MF’s achievements, including Antarctica missions, record ploughing, and humanitarian efforts. The MF 8S is now a symbol of what modern tractors can do—on and off the field.
