Three years following the enactment of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has made significant strides in enhancing America's rural infrastructure and resilience. Signed on November 15, 2021, this law has directed historic investments into areas critical for rural prosperity.
Under this initiative, the USDA has been pivotal in expanding high-speed internet across rural America, crucial for bridging the digital divide and supporting modern agriculture.
Over $2.2 billion has been allocated to enhance broadband through the ReConnect Program, impacting hundreds of thousands with improved connectivity.
The law has also fortified efforts against wildfires, with the USDA directing nearly $5.5 billion towards reducing fire risks and restoring forest health. This includes managing over 11.8 million acres to shield communities and ecosystems from fire threats.
The USDA has invested in improving watershed management and flood prevention. Funding has enhanced infrastructure resilience, supporting the construction of new dams and mitigation projects across numerous states.
These efforts are part of a broader USDA commitment under the Administration to ensure a sustainable, competitive, and fair agricultural sector.
With continued focus on integrating climate-smart practices and expanding market opportunities, the USDA remains dedicated to revitalizing rural America and ensuring equity across its services.
