Kansas Livestock Health Board Meeting Set

Kansas Livestock Health Board Meeting Set

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Animal Health Advisory Board will meet at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. It is a regularly scheduled session to discuss animal health topics relevant to Kansas agriculture.

The meeting is open to the public. Anyone interested in attending may request the Zoom link or ask questions about the meeting by contacting Dr. Justin Smith, Animal Health Commissioner, at 785-564-6601 or via email at Justin.Smith@ks.gov.

“Persons who require special accommodations must make their needs known at least two days prior to the meeting.”

The board typically meets to address key animal health issues in the state, such as livestock disease monitoring, vaccination programs, emergency planning, and coordination with veterinary professionals. These meetings help shape strategies that protect animal agriculture and ensure public health and food safety.

By conducting the session online, the board makes it easier for participants from across the state to join without the need for travel. This approach also allows more voices to be heard, including veterinarians, livestock producers, and other stakeholders.

Public engagement is encouraged, and the meeting offers valuable insights into the work being done to maintain and improve animal health systems. It supports the transparency of government operations and gives interested individuals a chance to learn more about policy updates and health initiatives affecting animals in Kansas.

The virtual format demonstrates the board’s commitment to accessibility, allowing more residents to stay informed and involved in agricultural health decisions statewide.
