The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Conservation (KDA–DOC) has announced a new opportunity for livestock producers through the Kansas Livestock Water Efficiency Project. The initiative provides cost share assistance and incentive payments to help commercial feedlots and dairy operations improve their water use efficiency.
This statewide effort aligns with Kansas’s ongoing commitment to water conservation and sustainability. The program supports projects that enhance or upgrade livestock watering systems by funding high-efficiency livestock waterers, advanced water controls, and water recycling systems.
These improvements help reduce waste, manage resources effectively, and promote environmental responsibility in the livestock sector.
Applications for the program will be accepted from October 15, 2025, through November 14, 2025. Eligible participants must currently hold a livestock water right with the state of Kansas. Purchases made before application approval will not qualify for funding under this program.
Funding for this project is provided through the State Water Plan Fund, and the program is administered by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Conservation in coordination with the State Conservation Commission.
The Kansas Livestock Water Efficiency Project aims to help feedlots and dairies invest in modern, sustainable technologies that ensure a long-term, reliable water supply while reducing operational costs.
By assisting livestock operations in adopting new systems, Kansas continues to build its mission of responsible water management and agricultural innovation.
