Kansas State University Announces Annual Beef Stocker Field Day

Kansas State University is gearing up to host its annual Beef Stocker Field Day on September 28. According to university representatives, this year's program will provide a deeper look into the current challenges faced by the beef industry.

Dale Blasi, a renowned professor at K-State, emphasized the significance of the day's agenda. It will offer perspectives on the beef cattle market, present groundbreaking research on pharmaceutical technologies for stocker cattle, and offer insights on optimizing grow yard operations.

Blasi optimistically anticipates an event with speakers and panelists providing valuable insights for industry's uncertain future.

The event is set to be held at K-State’s Beef Stocker Unit on Marlatt Avenue in Manhattan. It promises a full day, commencing at 9:30 a.m. and concluding around 5 p.m. A special mention goes to Merck Animal Health, this year’s primary sponsor.

Some notable topics from the day's agenda include beef cattle market trends, the importance of labor in the industry, understanding the environmental impact of grazing cattle, and the implications of steroidal implants during various cattle growth phases.

For those interested in joining, a registration fee of $25 is required by September 14. On-the-spot registrations will be accepted at $35.

For detailed registration information and further inquiries, prospective attendees can visit asi.ksu.edu/stockerfieldday or reach out to Katie Smith on 785-532-1267 or katiesmith@ksu.edu.
