RTK Hosts Picnic with Wildflower Tour

By Scout Nelson

The Ranchland Trust of Kansas (RTK) is inviting guests to its annual Prairie Picnic, scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025. The event will be hosted at Moxley Ranch near Council Grove from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

As guests arrive, they will have the opportunity to explore the historic barn located at the ranch headquarters. This guided experience offers a glimpse into Kansas’ rich ranching heritage. Following the tour, attendees will enjoy a delicious lunch catered by Oakley Creek Catering.

After the meal, a short program will take place, leading to a lively auction hosted by Andrew Sylvester. Attendees can preview available auction items in advance on the Ranchland Trust of Kansas website and on RTK’s social media channels.

To conclude the day, guests are invited to join an optional wildflower tour around the scenic prairie landscape, providing a relaxing end to the event.

Tickets are priced at $50 per person, with children 12 and under welcome to attend for free. As space is limited to 150 guests, early registration is encouraged. To secure a spot, interested participants must email samantha@kla.org no later than June 6.

As shared in the official announcement, “The Prairie Picnic will conclude with an optional wildflower tour.”

This annual event is proudly sponsored by a number of organizations that support Kansas agriculture and conservation. The RTK Prairie Picnic provides a great opportunity to enjoy nature, connect with others, and support land conservation efforts across the state.
