KLA Offers Reward for Fence Damage

KLA Offers Reward for Fence Damage

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 following a case of deliberate property damage in Morris County, Kansas. The damage occurred between the evening of May 10 and the morning of May 11.

More than 120 cuts were made to fencing in a pasture located at the intersection of 2400 Road and F Avenue. The intentional damage caused cattle to escape the enclosed area. In a separate incident, fencing was also found cut at multiple points near Kansas Highway 149 and L Avenue.

These acts of vandalism have not only endangered livestock but have also caused serious concern within the agricultural community. The reward is available only if the affected producer is a member of the Kansas Livestock Association.

“The KLA reward fund is designed to assist law enforcement by encouraging tips from the public,” said the association. “It’s essential to protect both property and livestock across rural Kansas.”

The KLA is urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward. Individuals with useful details that may lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible are encouraged to contact the Morris County Sheriff’s Office at (620) 767-6310.

The KLA’s reward program is part of its broader mission to support Kansas ranchers and uphold the integrity of rural operations. Vandalism of this nature disrupts farm productivity, endangers animals, and damages property, often resulting in major losses for producers.

Community members are reminded that helping law enforcement can prevent future incidents. Information leading to an arrest will not only bring justice but will also help ensure safer rural environments for livestock and landowners alike.
