The Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) recently participated in the “Secure America’s Workforce” fly-in, organized by the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) in Washington, D.C.
The bipartisan event brought together business leaders, industry representatives, and policymakers to discuss practical and lasting solutions to America’s workforce challenges.
ABIC, a coalition of over 1,700 employers and chief executive officers, represents a broad range of industries such as agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, construction, and technology. Its mission focuses on addressing workforce shortages and promoting sensible immigration reforms to strengthen the nation’s economic foundation.
Nearly 200 participants joined the event to share industry concerns with policymakers and advocate for workforce stability. Meetings were held with more than 200 congressional offices, including all six members of the Kansas delegation.
KLA representatives also met with Sen. John Boozman, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, and senior staff from the House Agriculture Committee.
The discussions centered on the growing workforce challenges facing agriculture and other industries. Participants emphasized the need for reform in the guest worker program to ensure year-round labor support for sectors such as livestock production, were seasonal limitations often hinder efficiency and productivity.
According to ABIC leaders, creating a stable and legal workforce through bipartisan immigration reform is vital for ensuring food security, economic growth, and the sustainability of American businesses.
By collaborating with ABIC, KLA reaffirmed its commitment to advancing workforce policies that promote stability and opportunity within U.S. agriculture and beyond. The event underscored the importance of united industry voices in shaping a sustainable future for America’s workforce.
