Kansas hosts state conservation commission meet

By Scout Nelson

The State Conservation Commission (SCC) is set to hold its regular meeting on January 29, 2024. This crucial gathering is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will be hosted at the Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association office, located at 816 SW Tyler in Topeka, Kansas.

The SCC is a crucial body in Kansas' agricultural sector, consisting of five elected commissioners and four ex officio members from major agricultural entities like the Kansas State University Agriculture Experiment Station, Kansas Department of Agriculture, and U.S.  Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service.

This meeting is an essential platform for the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and programs aimed at conserving Kansas' renewable resources. The Kansas Department of Agriculture's Division of Conservation collaborates closely with the SCC, providing expert guidance and support.

The agenda for this meeting is expected to cover a range of topics centered on the enhancement and protection of Kansas' natural resources. Local governments and individuals interested in state conservation efforts are encouraged to participate and contribute to these crucial discussions.

For more information or to request a copy of the agenda, interested parties can contact the KDA Division of Conservation at kda.doc@ks.gov or call at 785-564-6620.
