KDA Photo Contest: Capture the Beauty of Kansas Agriculture

The captivating beauty of Kansas agriculture is calling out to photographers across the state. The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is excited to announce the launch of the annual KDA Photo Contest, inviting photographers to showcase the stunning aspects of Kansas farming. From July 19 to the end of August, photographers can submit their entries for a chance to be part of this celebration.

The KDA Photo Contest features four distinct categories that highlight different facets of Kansas agriculture. These categories are designed to showcase the diverse elements of farming in our state:

  • Farm Fresh: Participants can capture the variety of agricultural products that nourish our local communities.
  • Technology in Agriculture: This category focuses on the scientific advancements and innovations that drive efficiency and value in farming practices.
  • Kansas Critters: Paying homage to the animals that play a vital role in the agricultural landscape.
  • Kansas Life: This category aims to capture the overall beauty and essence of farming in our scenic state.

The contest also includes a video category. Participants can submit short clips, including drone footage and harvest videos, that showcase Kansas agriculture in under 30 seconds.

Young photographers under the age of 19 can participate in the separate Youth division of the contest.

Exciting prizes await the top two winners in each of the six categories, offering participants a chance to be recognized for their outstanding work.

By dividing the contest into different categories, the KDA aims to highlight the diverse aspects of Kansas agriculture and provide opportunities for photographers to showcase their skills and creativity.

The KDA plans to utilize the winning photographs throughout the year to tell the story of Kansas farming. By submitting their entries, photographers grant the KDA permission to use their work in various platforms without any compensation.

To enter the contest, participants should email their photo entries in .jpg format to KDA.PhotoContest@ks.gov. For videos, the preferred formats are .mp4 or .mov. Entries must include a title, a brief description, the location and date of the photo/video, the photographer's full name and age, entry category, hometown, and email address.

For detailed guidelines regarding the KDA Photo Contest, including deadlines, categories, and prizes, visit agriculture.ks.gov/PhotoContest.

The selection of finalists will be determined through voting on KDA's social media platforms in late August.

Join the KDA Photo Contest to capture the true spirit and beauty of Kansas agriculture. Let your images and videos become a testament to the vibrant legacy of farming in our heartland.
