The 21st Cover Your Acres Winter Conference is set to take place on January 16-17 at the Gateway Civic Center in Oberlin, Kansas. This event, a collaborative effort between K-State Research and Extension and various sponsors, is a key gathering for agricultural producers, consultants, and experts.
Lucas Haag, an agronomist with K-State's Northwest Research-Extension Center, highlights the conference's focus on pressing issues such as weed management, soil fertility, and the impact of weather phenomena like El Nino and La Nina on the Tri-State Region.
Attendees will benefit from insights by experts like Sarah Lancaster on weed management, Jeanne Falk Jones on resistance issues, and Jesse Lundquist on weather patterns.
The conference also features sessions on diverse topics including phosphorus movement in crops, profitability drivers in northwest Kansas farming (presented by Mark Wood), and long-term dryland rotation trials.
Other notable presentations include maximizing irrigation efficiency, exploring new wheat markets, managing drought-driven insects, and effectively using new technology in sprayers and planters.
Designed to offer comprehensive learning, the conference repeats its program on both days, allowing attendees to engage fully with the content. Certified Crop Advisors and Commercial Applicators can earn continuing education credits by participating.
Registration for the event begins at 7:45 a.m., with sessions concluding at 5 p.m. each day. Early registration, due by January 10, offers reduced fees, while late registrants will incur a higher cost. The conference fee covers lunch, refreshments, and educational materials.
