Corn prices expected to drop, grain trader says

Corn prices expected to drop, grain trader says

By Scout Nelson

Bryan Irey, a grain trader at Crossroads Coop, expects corn prices to drop between now and the end of the year. He says this is due to growing ending stocks, lower exports, and lower domestic consumption.

Despite the expected drop in prices, Irey sees this as a great marketing opportunity for corn and Kansas City wheat. He says that July 2024 Kansas City wheat was above $7 last week, and with December 2024 corn at $5.20 and July 2024 Kansas City wheat over $7, this is a great opportunity for producers to market their crops for the coming year.

Irey encourages producers to be keenly aware of the market and to take advantage of this marketing opportunity.
