Kansas Ag Marketing Gets New Director

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) has appointed Suzanne Ryan-Numrich as the new director of its Division of Agriculture Marketing, Advocacy, and Outreach. This division plays a key role in supporting farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses, strengthening rural communities, and promoting the state’s agricultural sector.

Ryan-Numrich has been with KDA for over a decade, previously serving as the international trade director. In this role, she provided market development support and expertise on global trade. She collaborated with various national and international organizations, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Technical Advisory Committee for Animals and Animal Products, where she advised on trade matters. Her efforts have helped promote Kansas agriculture in over 30 countries through more than 150 trade missions.

“Suzanne has been a dedicated member of our ag marketing team for a decade,” said Secretary of Agriculture Mike Beam. “She not only has a vast knowledge of the agriculture industry in Kansas, but she has developed strong relationships with agriculture organizations across the U.S. and beyond. She will be a tremendous asset to KDA in her new role as division director of ag marketing.”

The Division of Agriculture Marketing, Advocacy, and Outreach focuses on workforce development, domestic and international market expansion, compliance education, economic analysis, and community engagement. It also oversees the From the Land of Kansas program, which supports local food producers and farmers' markets.

As director, Ryan-Numrich will guide the division’s initiatives to enhance the agricultural industry’s growth and sustainability. Her leadership is expected to further strengthen Kansas’ agricultural presence both locally and globally.
