The Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) is set to celebrate its 106th annual meeting from December 7-9 in Manhattan, Kansas. This event marks a significant occasion for Kansas's agricultural community, showcasing a series of educational and networking activities designed to enhance the industry's growth and sustainability.
Joe Newland, president of the Kansas Farm Bureau, expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with members and stakeholders to continue advancing the interests of Kansas agriculture. The meeting will kick off with the KFB Foundations’ Fundraiser, "A Night in Vegas," scheduled for the evening of December 7th at the Hilton Garden Inn. This event, starting at 6 p.m., supports the End Hunger Program, tackling food insecurity within the state.
The subsequent days will be packed with activities beneficial for all attendees. On December 8, the day is filled with informational workshops covering essential topics such as technology in agriculture, biosecurity, and succession planning.
These sessions are crucial for keeping the farming community abreast of current trends and methods. Additionally, a tradeshow and silent auction will provide opportunities for attendees to engage with vendors and other industry professionals.
Awards will be presented during the general session to recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to agriculture in areas like natural resources management, mental health advocacy, and media relations.
Highlighting the event will be a panel discussion featuring Diane Sullivan and Brian Klippenstein, focusing on the importance of operational freedom in agricultural success and its impact on low-income families.
The culmination of the meeting on December 9 will involve critical discussions among voting delegates who will debate and adopt policy statements for the upcoming year and conduct elections for the organization's president and board members.
This annual gathering not only honors the achievements within the Kansas agricultural sector but also strategically positions the community for future challenges and opportunities. It's a cornerstone event for networking, learning, and celebrating the vital role of agriculture in Kansas and beyond.
