19 Percent of Kansas Wheat Good to Excellent



For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.7 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 36% very short, 32% short, 31% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 45% very short, 32% short, 22% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Winter wheat condition rated 26% very poor, 26% poor, 29% fair, 17% good, and 2% excellent. Winter wheat jointed was 4%, near 1% last year and 1% for the five-year average.
