Kansas landowners have an exciting opportunity to be recognized for their conservation efforts with the 2024 Kansas Leopold Conservation Award. This prestigious award, carrying a prize of $10,000, honors landowners who demonstrate outstanding achievements in voluntary conservation.
The award is named after the famous conservationist Aldo Leopold and is a collaborative effort presented by the Ranchland Trust of Kansas, Sand County Foundation, Kansas Association of Conservation Districts (KACD), and American Farmland Trust. It celebrates those who take initiative in preserving the natural environment on their agricultural land.
Landowners can either nominate themselves or be nominated by others. The application process is straightforward and must be completed by June 1, 2024. Those interested can apply or submit nominations online.
The 2024 recipient of the Kansas Leopold Conservation Award will be announced and honored in November at the KACD Annual Convention. This award provides recognition and encourages continued commitment to environmental stewardship among agricultural communities.
Support for this award is provided by several organizations, including the Farm Credit Associations of Kansas, ITC Great Plains, and the Kansas Department of Agriculture-Division of Conservation, among others.
These sponsors are crucial in making the award possible and highlight the collaborative effort to promote sustainable practices in Kansas farming and ranching communities.
This award is a chance for Kansas landowners to showcase their commitment to conservation and to inspire others in the agricultural sector to follow in their footsteps.
