Kansas's farming community is gearing up for an enlightening session on the use of drones in agriculture. Set for September 10 in Garnett, the meeting titled "Using Drone Technology in Agriculture" will feature experts from various fields demonstrating the practical benefits of drones in modern farming. Registration for this no-cost event is essential, with details available through local extension offices.
The session, a collaborative effort by the Frontier Extension District and Coffey County Extension office, will cover many topics relevant to today's agricultural challenges and opportunities.
Ryan Schaub, an agent from K-State Research and Extension, emphasized the growing interest among local farmers in using drones for tasks ranging from spraying herbicides to monitoring cattle, particularly during critical periods like calving season.
The global market for agricultural drones is booming, with projections suggesting it could reach over $23 billion by 2032. This surge highlights the significant impact drones are expected to have on the agricultural sector.
The meeting will include presentations from leading experts like Spencer Schrader, who will discuss drone regulations and applications, and Jaymelynn Farney, who uses drones to measure pasture biomass. Other speakers, including Trevor Witt and Kelly Nainsky-Wenzel, will explore commercial and regulatory aspects of drone usage in agriculture.
Attendees will benefit from live demonstrations and discussions on the strategic application of drones, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of how this technology can enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability. This event promises to be a valuable opportunity for Kansas farmers to learn how drones can support their agricultural practices more efficiently.
