The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) has taken a significant stride forward with the appointment of Josh McGinn as Assistant Secretary of Agriculture. McGinn's new role is a testament to his profound agricultural background and commitment to public service.
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Beam expressed confidence in McGinn's abilities, noting his invaluable contribution to the state's Office of Rural Prosperity. This experience positions McGinn ideally to support Kansas's agricultural community, including farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses.
In his role, McGinn will play a crucial part in shaping the legislative agenda for the KDA. His responsibilities will include in-depth research and analysis of legislative issues and crafting and promoting the agency's legislative priorities. He will help develop agricultural and rural development policies aimed at bolstering Kansas's agricultural landscape.
McGinn's journey in public service spans nearly five years within the Kelly administration, where he has held various significant positions, including his role in the Office of Rural Prosperity and as Policy Director within the Governor’s Office.
Raised on a fifth-generation farm in Sedgwick, Kansas, McGinn's roots in agriculture run deep. He pursued higher education at Kansas State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in English, with minors in history and leadership studies. His educational background, combined with his hands-on agricultural experience, uniquely qualifies him for this new role.
Josh McGinn looks forward to advocating for the needs and interests of Kansas farmers and ranchers at both state and federal levels, aiming to make a lasting impact in the agricultural sector of Kansas.
