Kansas FFA Gains Support Through Stockyards Sale

By Scout Nelson

The 3rd Annual Special FFA Sale at Heartland Regional Stockyards provided significant support for Kansas FFA programs, raising funds to enhance agricultural education and leadership opportunities. With 2,400 head sold, the event brought together local producers to invest in the future of agriculture.

The sale featured a unique donation initiative where sellers and buyers could contribute $1 per head to the Kansas FFA Foundation and a local FFA chapter of their choice. Heartland Regional Stockyards matched 100% of the per-head donations, ensuring substantial support for 18 FFA chapters across the state.

These funds will help students gain hands-on learning experiences and develop leadership skills essential for their future careers.

FFA members from several chapters actively participated in the event, assisting with cattle check-in, serving meals, and engaging with industry leaders. The event provided students with valuable experience in agricultural business and networking, further strengthening their skills and knowledge.

Logan FFA Advisor Janet Gottstine emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Heartland Regional Stockyards Sale is a highlight of the year. It provides hands-on learning, skill-building, and memorable moments for our members. We are grateful that their team wants to support what we are doing to make a difference in the lives of Kansas FFA members.”

The Kansas FFA Foundation expressed its appreciation for the strong community support that made this event successful. Contributions from producers and sponsors ensure that Kansas FFA continues to provide valuable educational experiences, empowering the next generation of agricultural leaders.

With the success of this year’s sale, Kansas FFA remains committed to fostering leadership, innovation, and sustainability in agriculture, ensuring a promising future for the industry.
