The ninth annual Kansas Governor's Summit on Agricultural Growth brought together over 300 agricultural leaders from throughout Kansas on August 20–21. The event, which aimed to promote dialogue and growth in the industry, emphasized the critical role that agriculture plays in advancing state and local development.
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Beam praised the attendees' commitment and demonstrated leadership. According to Beam, "our agricultural leaders and volunteers are instrumental in strengthening both our industry and rural communities," emphasizing the group's work as a cause for optimism and pride in the state.
Lieutenant Governor David Toland, speaking on behalf of Governor Laura Kelly, remarked on the transformative developments within Kansas agriculture. "A new Kansas is emerging, spearheaded by dynamic growth in our agricultural sector, which promises enhanced support for our rural communities," he noted.
The Summit featured insightful presentations from notable experts including Alexis M. Taylor, USDA Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs, who emphasized the importance of global relationships and strategic long-term planning for securing success in international markets.
