Kansas communities are invited to celebrate local agricultural educators who nurture young minds into future leaders. Nationwide, in partnership with the Kansas FFA Foundation, is presenting the 2023-2024 Golden Owl Award to recognize these dedicated teachers and their contributions to the future of agriculture.
The Golden Owl Award, introduced in 2018, recognizes outstanding agricultural educators across 11 states, with Kansas being the latest addition. From October 1 to December 31, 2023, nominate an ag teacher who has made a significant impact by visiting GoldenOwlAward.com.
Brad Liggett, Agribusiness at Nationwide, acknowledges the significant contribution of educators in shaping future food guardians and emphasizes the need to acknowledge their hard work.
On December 31, a committee will select seven Kansas FFA district stars, receiving applause from students and peers. The winners will receive a personalized plaque and $500 for their classroom after the nominations end.
One of seven Kansas Ag Educators will win the 2023-2024 Ag Educator of the Year title, earning the Golden Owl Award trophy and an additional $3,000 for their educational programs.
Beth Gaines, the Kansas FFA Foundation's leader, emphasizes the significant award as a significant step towards ag education in Kansas, not only cheering for educators but also fostering a culture of excellence.
And because the future of ag is a group effort, Nationwide is pitching in $5,000 to FFA chapters in participating states, Kansas included. It's all about growing together — students, teachers, and advisors.
