This academic year marks a milestone for the Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF) as it awards a record-breaking $38,500 in scholarships across 34 recipients. The foundation has expressed gratitude towards all sponsors and supporters whose generosity made this achievement possible.
Two standout students from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Maggie Brown and Chance Kopsa, each received a $1,500 scholarship through the Merck Animal Health Cartridges for Cash program. This program funds scholarships by collecting Ralgro and Revalor cartridges, each valued at 25¢ when turned in.
Five more students benefited from the Cartridges for Cash scholarships of $1,000 each. Sadie Marchiano from Fort Scott will continue her education as a senior at Fort Hays State University, while Ethan Kneisler, Caleb McAfee, Karsyn Sikes, and Hailey Wurtz—all attending Kansas State University—are also scholarship recipients this year.
Haskell County, which turned in the most cartridges in 2023, saw Katelynn Delaplane from Satanta awarded a $1,000 scholarship as she prepares to start her freshman year at Fort Hays State University.
These scholarships reflect the Kansas Livestock Foundation's commitment to supporting the next generation of agricultural professionals in Kansas. The foundation continues to foster educational growth and encourage students pursuing careers in agriculture, reflecting its dedication to the future of farming and veterinary science in the state.
