Eligible nonprofit organizations in Kansas are urged to apply for the U S Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) if they have been financially impacted by winter storms from January 8 to 16, 2024.
The application deadline is January 28, 2025, offering organizations time to seek valuable financial help. The designated counties include Butler, Chase, Cloud, Edwards, Ford, Geary, Gray, Hodgeman, Marion, Morris, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Shawnee, Stafford, Trego, and Wabaunsee.
Examples of eligible non-critical nonprofit organizations include food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers, schools, and colleges.
Under this declaration, the EIDL program aims to offset economic losses directly caused by severe winter storms. Even if an organization did not incur physical damage, it may still qualify for working capital loans that address fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other business expenses. According to the SBA Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience, these funds are crucial for maintaining local economies, particularly after a devastating disaster.
Recipients can borrow up to two million dollars at an interest rate of 3.25 percent for nonprofit entities, with loan terms extending up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue, nor are payments required until one year from the date of the first loan disbursement. Loan amounts and terms are ultimately determined by the applicant’s financial situation.
The SBA is also expediting the processing of new and outstanding loan offers, made possible by allocations from the American Relief Act of 2025. As a result, more organizations can begin the recovery process without unnecessary delays. Officials encourage nonprofits to act quickly, noting that prompt submission of applications and documentation can significantly expedite financial relief.
Organizations can learn more about EIDL program requirements, access detailed application instructions, and submit loan applications at SBA gov disaster. Additional assistance is available by calling the SBA Customer Service Center on 800 6592955 or emailing disastercustomerservice sba gov.
By offering these vital loans, the SBA intends to strengthen community resilience. For all eligible nonprofits working toward stability and growth, these loans represent a valuable resource in the path to recovery.
