Some Tools On Smoke Management Plan Website Experiencing Technical Issues

By Scout Nelson

As the prescribed burning season gets underway, landowners should be aware that some of the tools on www.ksfire.org currently are unavailable. The contractor who runs the forecast map and smoke modeling tool is experiencing technical issues due to a network outage, and there is no timeline for when it will be fixed.

Ranchers and landowners are encouraged to go to the Kansas Flint Hills Smoke Management Facebook page to get daily updates on wind conditions and how smoke dispersion will be impacted to help ensure the safety and effectiveness of a planned burn.

The website still contains active and available links to trainings, regulations, policies, publications and other beneficial tools for those looking for information on smoke management.
