David S. Doctorian, State Conservationist for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), has announced that the application deadline for the 2025 Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is set for Monday, September 9, 2024.
Kansas is projected to receive over $70 million through the Farm Bill and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to help producers enhance the natural resources on their land. These funds will enable farmers to adopt various practices, including structural, vegetative, and management strategies, aimed at addressing natural resource concerns on working agricultural lands.
Doctorian emphasized the benefits Kansans can expect, such as water conservation, soil health improvements, and grassland preservation.
NRCS accepts conservation program applications throughout the year, but producers and landowners must submit their applications by the September 9, 2024, deadline to be considered for FY 2025 financial assistance.
To be eligible, participants must meet Farm Bill Program requirements, including compliance with Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Compliance rules and Adjusted Gross Income limits.
Doctorian encouraged Kansas producers to take advantage of this funding opportunity, highlighting the NRCS's commitment to addressing resource concerns across diverse landscapes, from traditional farms to urban and wildlife areas. He noted that technical assistance is available at local Service Centers to help applicants navigate the process and develop conservation plans tailored to their specific needs.
