Winter wheat production is estimated at 244 million bushels, down 33% from last year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. The area harvested for grain totaled 6.60 million acres, down 6% from 2021. Planted acreage totaled 7.30 million acres, unchanged from a year earlier. The yield is 37.0 bushels per acre, down 15.0 bushels from 2021.
Oat production is estimated at 1.03 million bushels, up 3% from 2021. Area harvested for grain, at 25,000 acres, is up 25% from last year. Planted acreage totaled 110,000 acres, down 4% from a year earlier. Yield is 41.0 bushels per acre, down 9.0 bushels per acre from last year.
Barley production is estimated at 165,000 bushels, down 38% from a year ago. Area harvested for grain is 5,000 acres, up 25% from 2021. Planted acreage totaled 15,000 acres, up 7% from last year. Average yield, at 33.0 bushels per acre, is down 33.0 bushels from 2021.
